There are several different monsters within the “giant beetle” class. So far, the adventuring company has encountered two types:

Giant Fire Beetle: These creatures have two glowing glands behind their eyes and one in their abdomen. The glands give off soft orange light, like firelight, out to 10’. If carefully removed from the corpse of a dead fire beetle, they’ll continue to glow for another 1d6 days.

Giant Oil Beetle: Basically a giant bombardier beetle, they attack by squirting out a burning oil that causes damage and raises painful blisters on the skin of anyone struck. The blisters leave the victim −2 to attack rolls until they receive some magical healing or a full night’s rest.
