The Shade Isle Campaign
The niece of King Bjornstraand of Dämmendell, she was the king’s closest blood-relative and heiress to the throne. But she was also an adventuress and an inveterate explorer of dangerous places, a habit which tends to conflict with royal responsibility. She was known to wander off into the wilds, disappear for weeks at a time, and then come back with a few bruises, a bit of treasure, and some fantastic stories. So, when she planned an expedition into the Merkbog by herself, nobody really thought anything of it.
Only, the princess has been missing since winter of 916 (now more than six months at the time of this writing). As a consequence of this, the nobles of Dämmendell held a jarlsmoot at the end of April 917 and forced King Bjornstraand to declare his niece legally dead. After the traditional eight-day period of mourning for a fallen dwarf warrior of renown, the line of succession fell to the king’s next-closest relative, Jarl Orrin Eisengant, a cousin to the crown.
