There are many kinds of giant spider in the world. So far, the adventuring company has encountered giant crab spiders and giant black widows.

Giant Crab Spider: This species is about 5’ in length, with a chameleon-like power to blend into its surroundings, which imparts a 67% chance to pass a Stealth check or to surprise an opponent (a roll of 1–4 on 1d6). Naturally, experts with the Alertness ability and brawlers with the Feel Qi power are still only surprised on a roll of 1.

The bite of a giant crab spider is poisonous and will cause 2d10 points of poison damage, suffered 1d4 turns after the bite occurs. A saving throw is permitted to reduce the damage by half, and the victim receives a +2 bonus to this save due to the weakness of the crab spider’s venom.

Giant Black Widow: These spiders are 6’ long, with a characteristic “red hourglass” shape on the abdomen. They spin webs, which act much like a sorcerer’s web spell. A black widow’s venom is fairly quick-acting an potent, 3d10 damage (save for half) suffered only one turn after being bitten.
