Goblin Lair

This part of the Lornwood is a clearing with a small valley in it. A small cave-mouth sits at the bottom of the valley, surrounded by several primitive, animal-hide tents. The clearing is occupied by an unknown number of goblins, all of them red-eyed and fierce, and their thyrsa-hai chieftain.

The adventuring company sought out this lair during a monster-hunting expedition throughout the Lornwood. They didn’t attack it in force, though. Connor the Green Wizard, having befriended goblins on several occasions and become something of an honorary tribal shaman to their kind, approached the camp alone and spoke with the chieftain. The chief, a very tall and fit and muscular great goblin with yellow, catlike eyes, agreed to the brief parley.

Connor asked why the wood-imps to the south and the goblins living here were all blood-eyed and scaly, and the chief just laughed and answered that it was because they were snaga, dim-witted soldier- and slave-class goblinoids. Connor also pressed the chief to cough up some treasure; the chief went down into the cave and came back up with a mythrill dagger, which he gave to Connor while grumbling that “elfsteel makes Mudborns nervous anyway,” apparently referring to his snaga-hai soldiers.
