Red-scaled dragons are most feared of all dragon-kind, second in might and intelligence only to gold-scaled dragons, but nearly always Chaotic and evil. Even the smallest and youngest examples of red-scales, known colloquially as fire-drakes, are exceedingly dangerous.

Red drakes are thrice per day able to breathe a cone of flame 90’ long and 30’ at the widest, which deals 10d8 points of fire damage (with a save allowed for half damage). Red drakes are immune to harm from non-magical fire, and even magical fire can only cause them half normal damage.

All red drakes are particularly avaricious, even for dragon-kind, and those that talk (50% of all red drakes) are especially susceptible to flattery. Talking red drakes are able to cast spells of sorcery: but unlike mortal sorcerers, dragons keep no grimoires, nor do they memorize spells. Instead, a red drake simply knows (innately due to their magical nature) three random spells at each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spell levels, and is able to cast each known spell once per day.
