Living shadows are wrathful, hate-filled beings from another plane of existence. They are non-corporeal and can only be harmed by spells or by weapons of elfsteel and stronger. The touch of a shadow causes 1d4 points of damage and also drains 1 point of Strength; anyone whose Strength is drained down to 0 by a shadow dies immediately. Whether by loss of hit points or Strength, anyone killed by a shadow immediately becomes a shadow themselves. Shadows are not undead and cannot be turned, but like undead they are unaffected by sleep and charm and strong (+2 to saves) vs. cold-based attacks.
