Shriekers are creatures which look like giant mushrooms. They live only in underground environments. They are able to move slowly (think “goombas”, but even slower). If they sense light within 60’ or movement within 30’, they will react by emitting a high-pitched, piercing shriek which lasts for 1d3 rounds. For every round that the ambulant fungus shrieks, there is a 67% chance that wandering monsters will be drawn to the scene 2d6 rounds later.

Shriekers do not attack; instead, they feed off the carrion leftover from battles in their vicinity (or on small animals that their shrieks leave stunned).
